It Doesn't Go Away You Just Get Used To It
Acrylic paint, silicone, flint rock, screen printed aluminium foil
In this work, I give form to the persistent, often invisible pain of living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)—a chronic condition without a cure. My late diagnosis of which has caused multiple areas of failure throughout my body and will continue to degrade with time.
The jagged presence of flint rock and the tactile discomfort of silicone mirror the tension and disruption within my own body.
Surrounding the piece, screen printed aluminium foil bears the imprint of metal tabs from medication packets I have needed during its creation—a fragile archive of endurance.
This work is not about resolution or recovery, but the slow, complex process of adapting to a body in conflict.
