Migraine is a visual embodiment of the overwhelming sensory collapse that accompanies my migraine episodes.

 

The work centres on an optical illusion—spinning, disorienting—designed to mirror the dizzying aura that precedes and accompanies my attacks. The palette is drawn directly from the colours I’ve seen during these moments: unnatural and flickering.

 

At the heart of the canvas, a single figure curls into herself. She is not separate from the migraine but consumed by it, her body caught in its folds, wrapped in the rhythm of pain. There are no other visuals, no narrative distractions—because in these moments, nothing else exists. It is a recreation of a state where the world recedes and only pain remains.
